In the most earnest of ways, José’s dedication to craft is remarkable in the way that it showcases his meticulous approach to form. For over 25 years, he has worked with the same materials and same process, it is as much ritual as it is expression.

Drawing inspiration from both nature and their heritage, Lei and Augusto started making their own ceramics at the age of 16. In honoring their cultural traditions, they created an approach that integrated both primitive ceramic techniques with newer advanced methods. This intention is clear in their dedication and passion through which they continue to carry out their work. 33 years ago they opened Ateliê Augusto Leí, their joint ceramics studio which includes a traditional Japanese Noborigama kiln and an annex for exhibitions. By showcasing their work they keep the rituals of their heritage alive. Additionally, the physical construction of their studio offers an homage to the cultural ritual of hand pressed pottery bricks, which is an important part of the history of ceramics in the city of Cunha.

Lena is an architect and artist who constructs jewelry from a place of storytelling and honors the meticulously ornate quality of Brazilian craftsmanship. She is passionate about connecting with people as she travels throughout Brazil with the intention of cultivating moments with people who share her values, passions and love of storytelling.

Tiago Datti and Fernanda Maleski joined their experiences and accepted the challenge of carrying on a family legacy of more than five generations between cabinetmakers and woodworkers.

In ceramics, Fernanda incorporated the Nerikomi technique, which allows her to transmit her collage studies for clay.
